- Always get your fresh flowers in water as soon as you can
- Make Sure your vase is clean you can either pop it in the dishwasher or bleach it to make sure its thoroughly clean
- Fill the vase with fresh cold water and flower food
- If you have no flower food you can make some up using a drop of bleach, a teaspoon of sugar, and two teaspoons of lemon or lime juice
- Remove the lower leaves from flower stems to stop contaminating the water they will only drink up water and you want the main flower stem to have the water
- Cut stem half an inch at a diagonal with sharp scissors
- Always keep away from direct heat
- Do not place near a fruit bowl as this will make your flowers age more rapidly as fruit gives of a gas called ethylene
- Refresh water and flower food every three days and re cut stems a little
- If your arrangement is in foam then a little water each day to stop it drying out
